In Memory of
RUSSELL P WINTERS Jr.
Russ
is
missed by all of
us in Mid-State Antique Auto Club. He
was a member for 19 years, having joined us in 1985.
He made many valuable contributions of his time and efforts to make our
Club what it is today. He became our
Vice-President in 1988 for two terms then became our President in 1990.
He served as President for 5 different terms and on the Board of
Directors for 9 terms – serving a total of 16 years as an Officer and
Director. Russ also actively
contributed his time and efforts to the majority of our Club activities and
events over those 19 years.
Russ’ talents were many and he
helped many of us in restoring and servicing our antiques.
We are forever grateful. He,
along with his wife, Anita, led us on many interesting trips “Mystery Rides’
with his antiques and was our bus driver on many Club Trips.
He was instrumental in starting our Club participation in the Garlic
Festival which our Club members have attended for the past 18 years, as well as
our annual participation at the Ferncol Fair each Fall .
Russ owned and restored many antiques starting with a
1937 International 1 ˝ Ton Stake Truck, a 1941 Studebaker Special Deluxe Business coupe, his twin 1940 Chevy Coupes,
a 1969 Austin-Healy Sprite, a
1975 Corvette, a 1923 Model T
Roadster Pickup, a 1951 Chevy
Special Deluxe 2 Dr Sedan - he called this one Anita’s,
and a 1956 Dodge Royal/Lancer.
He
was always warm, considerate, kind and a Gentleman
- all rare qualities these days. Russ was the kind of a guy that would do what
ever he could to help out a buddy. He never said anything negative or
unflattering about anyone! A rare bird.
Russ always helped where help was
needed.
We
extend our deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
